“Who am I? My name is Marcu Bogdan Gabriel, I am 33 years old and I was born and raised in Bucharest. I started traveling the world on two wheels as I was 23 years old, my first adventure being Tunisia in 2007.I loved that for each year to add a new baggage of memories with one more ride, some shorter, some longer.”

Since then he traveled through 28 countries. We previously mentioned the tour in 2008 when he was crossing Europe to Dakar, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania and Senegal, Syria and Jordan in 2010, in 2011 he returned to Tunisia and in 2015 visited again Chinguetti in Mauritania. And these are just a small part of his travels, you can read more on his blog www.motoafrica.ro

After a series of injuries he discovered the bike and from there to the idea of crossing Africa on two wheels was only one step: an expedition of 14,000 km alone by bike from Cairo to Cape Town which will stretch over 8 months.
Merinito will be close to him on this trip which begins in October, both morally and with a much-needed piece of equipment for the extreme conditions they will encounter in Africa.

And you may be wondering: why 14000 km on a bike? Bogdan responds with his favorite quote: “Over 20 years you will be more disappointed by the things you did not do than the ones you did. So raise the anchor. Navigate in the open sea away from the safety of a port. Catch the wind into the sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” - Mark Twain
He will begin the bike ride in Cairo and the trip finish will be in Cape Town (South Africa). He will be alone this time, his girlfriend Loredana following him only in Kenya and Tanzania. The most important are the water supplies, in Sudan there are portions of 200-300 km without being able to rebuild the reserves.

The bicycle was built piece by piece by him. “I carefully selected each part and I think today we have a bike able to go on roads with or without asphalt loaded with 40kg of luggage” Bogdan explained.
And to be able to remain with great memories at the end of the expedition, some of the baggage is the camera equipment.
